Autotrader has decided to halt its sponsorship of a late-night television program in light of a string of comments made by its host, Samantha Bee, directed at President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump.
During an episode of “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” on TBS on Wednesday, Bee urged Ivanka Trump to “do something” about her father’s immigration practices, and referred to her using a derogatory term, USA Today reported.
In response to the recent news about prosecutions of people accused of illegally crossing the border, Bee suggested that Ivanka Trump “put on something tight and low cut,” and told her to tell President Trump to “(expletive) stop it,” USA Today reported.
In a tweet Wednesday, Autotrader said, “The comments expressed by Samantha Bee were offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company. As a result, we have suspended our sponsorship of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.”
Bee apologized to Ivanka Trump on Twitter for using the slur to describe her on the show.
“It was inappropriate and inexcusable,” Bee tweeted. “I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
Thank you to those who reached out regarding our sponsorship of Full Frontal. The comments expressed by Samantha Bee were offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company. As a result, we have suspended our sponsorship of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.
