Detroit auto show: 4 unveiled sports cars

DETROIT — Despite no-shows from the German luxury brands and yet another wave of three-row crossovers, the 2019 Detroit auto show ended up being the place for sports cars.

And it wasn’t a ho-hum batch of warmed-over special editions.

The show featured the return of the iconic Toyota Supra, the quickest street-legal Ford Mustang ever, the first Subaru Tecnica International model for the U.S. market, and a Lexus designed to be at home on the track.

To be sure, these four models likely will sell in small numbers. Subaru already noted that it will build only about 200 of the S209s, for example.

But the show was proof that sports cars and their fans might still have a place in today’s truck-dominated market after all.

Here’s a look at the show’s fast and furious debuts.
